First Central Station Building 3
Seattle, Washington
First Central Station Building 3 is part of a larger urban infill project located just south of Seattle University in Seattle’s Central Area neighborhood. The mixed-use, new construction building contains 156 apartment homes, and is proximate to integrated exterior public spaces.
Directly adjacent to the landmarked Washington Hall, the building design thoughtfully weaves modern and transparent gestures, with a scale and massing that is respectful of its historic neighbor. Through a series of intentional design moves — depth/relief, articulation, modulation, layering of texture/fabric — a human scale and inviting street presence were achieved. The project was successfully taken through master-use and building permitting processes, with a building permit being made available to the client.
The design represents a collaboration with b9 Architects and Weinstein A+U.
