RESIDENTIAL
Station House
Sweden
This interior remodel updates a decommissioned train station in Sweden originally constructed in 1878. The work focuses on extending the life of the structure for another 150 years by reworking the plan and providing new surfaces, cabinets, finishes and fixtures throughout. Added interior framing provides a second layer of insulation and a new, triple-pane window package establishes a high performing thermal envelope. Geothermal heating powers radiant floors throughout while the electrical system includes conduit for future roof mounted solar panels. Updates include opening up the dining room ceiling to reveal the historic roof framing previously enclosed in the attic space. Locally produced products include stone and tile from Finnsäter, cabinets from Ballingslov and Alfs Trapp, seat cushions from Frösö Handtryck and Kim Dulk, and wood stoves by Contura. Furnishings include sofas by Bolia, coat racks by Norrgavel and light fixtures by Ochre. Construction by Rödöns Bygg with a special thanks to Fredrik Larsson and Robin.
