A 2,500-square-foot residence on the northern edge of Sisters, Oregon, built for aging-in-place. The main level holds the kitchen and living space, garage, primary bedroom suite, and an artist's studio — all within easy reach for years of daily use. The upstairs program contains a second bedroom suite and office, reserved for guests and quieter work.

The design reworks mid-century principles at the clients' request: form follows function, daylight is prioritized and filtered, and materials lean toward rich textures that complement clean, classic lines. A thoughtful landscape carries those lines outward, softening hardscape patios with firewise principles and native plant species layered in around them. Discipline and restraint guided the process from the earliest sketches through the last details — distractions were stripped away, clutter was concealed, and the house was built so the clients' own artwork and collection could provide a warm, intriguing backdrop.
