This home uniquely evokes a mid-century modern aesthetic while creating an innovative form and palette for the new millennium. Its forms and materials were sculpted to provide an abundance of natural light along with flexible spaces for an active family.
Perched on Lake Washington, BUILD designed this home with large expanses of glass that can be slid open to take advantage of the views and ample natural ventilation. The entry sequence and orientation of this home were intentionally integrated with a series of unique events and terraces which allow for a strong connection between the interior and exterior.
Creating three volumes for the house allows specific spaces for gathering, active public activities and private functions. The building envelope includes a precisely detailed rainscreen siding system complemented by native northwest wood components.
BUILD is Architect of Record, and collaborated on design with Gordon Walker.
