This retreat is set among large fir and cedar trees, strategically capturing slices of its panoramic view and natural light. Designed in coordination with lead designer Terry Hunziker, BUILD created an exterior envelope featuring everlasting cor-ten steel rainscreen siding as well as large expanses of glass and exterior pocket doors framing views of an upgraded 1918 cabin, the Olympic Mountains, Mount Rainier, and Saratoga Passage. The single level, horizontal orientation was chosen to contrast the vertical nature of the bluff and second growth forest.
