Perched to capture views of Seattle, the Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains and Mount Rainier, this substantial remodel of an existing home focuses on sightlines, natural light, and indoor-outdoor relationships. Because an existing foundation was reused in a steep slope area, the new work maintains the line of the existing footprint, and maximizes vertical expansion. A simple massing keeps the structural system straight-forward and cost-effective, while a disciplined interior and thoughtful detailing create a timeless envelope. The floor plan takes full advantage of a striking site, and accommodates the needs of a growing family.
